On the other hand, some customers don't want to deal with setting up their network at all and just leave it to us to do everything.

The important thing is this: no matter how hands-on or hands-off you want to be, just let us know and that's how we'll work with you!

Wired vs. Wireless

The two main networking standards found in the home are wireless, or "wifi", and wired Ethernet. Some homes rely entirely on wireless networking, but most have a combination of wired and wireless running together. Why? Well, while wireless is convenient, it is not always the most reliable, so many homeowners opt for one or two wired connections to give them an option for getting online even when the wireless signal may be down.

If you are having trouble with your wifi connection, look for these common causes of interference or weak signals:

  • 2.4Ghz wireless home telephones
  • neighboring wifi networks
  • washer, dryer, refrigerator, or microwave between wireless access point and computer
  • Wireless video game controllers
  • Brick, stucco, or thick concrete walls or chimneys
