Computer tutoring for kids (5-11)
Kids seem to know their way around computers naturally, yet many family computers are damaged by children who may not properly shut down, or who may jam CD drives or who damage notebook computer screens, power connectors, and keyboards. As parents, we've found that kids often tune out the well-intentioned and good advice we offer about preserving the family computer. As geeks, we've found that kids are generally intrigued enough by us that they're more apt to listen to and heed that same advice. So don't go it alone. Let us work with you to make sure your kids develop good computing and computer care habits.

Computer tutoring for teens (12-up)
By the time kids get into their teens, most of them have pretty solid hands-on computer experience, and seem to know a lot more about computers than their parents. This is the time when they may want to try downloading free games or music from the Internet, or may want to create a myspace or facebook page. This is also the time when they are most vulnerable to online predation as they have moved beyond the technology itself and are exploring the social aspects of computing.

This is a great time to work with Geek Housecalls to have some frank discussions about privacy, the perceived anonymous nature of the Internet and how theings aren't always as they seem. We can also show your kids how the computer keeps extensive records of every place they go and everything they do online. We can show them how a remote user on the Internet can recognize them by their IP address, even if they change screen names or chat services. We can show them how freely available technology called "geolocation" can tell people what town they are in by searching their IP address. In short, we can help you give your teen a healthy dose of respect and perhaps a bit of necessary paranoia about the real dangers of the online environment.

Computer tutoring for adults and professionals
As a professional or adult computer user, you may find yourself in a quandry as the world, and certainly work, demands computer skills. Because unlike today's kids, you didn't grow up with a computer in the home, and so it becomes a bit of a challenge to be productive and learn the technology at the same time.

Unfortunately for many, the challenge comes when you find yourself suddenly facing a deadline for a presentation, whether in the board room or at the garden club. You have a vision for how your presentation will look, but find that you just don't know enough about PowerPoint to make it work. Don't just settle for a plain vanilla text presentation, we can help! And the best part is, we won't park you in a classroom and drone on about the zillion features and functions you'll never use. We'll help you skip the mental clutter by focusing on those features and functions needed to get the presentation you want in the timeframe you need it!

Computer tutoring for executives
As an executive, you may be at the greatest disadvantage when it comes to computer skills because you are often just expected to know more than you actually do. As a result, your computer may be no more than a glorified paperweight as you resort to delegating even the simplest computing tasks to administrative help rather than ask for help from within your organization.

Geek Housecalls Executive tutoring is a great way to learn or to brush up on computer skills and develop confidence without having to worry about perceptions from within your organization. And, because it all happens in the privacy of your home, you can focus on personal usage aspects of the personal computer such as personal emails, family communications and photos, as well as sensitive items like financial and investment research without exposing your personal life to peers or subordinates.
